Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park, welcomes the cool crooning and killer chops of several acclaimed jazz acts as host to some of SmoothChicago’s series of summer concerts. On May 23, the Grand Opening show and party features saxophonists Ray Silkman and Phil Denny, vocalist Typhanie Monique and more. On August 15, the Grammy-nominated Jazz Funk Soul Tour electrifies audiences with jazz fusion featuring renowned keyboardist Jeff Lorber, smooth saxophonist Everette Harp, and legendary guitarist Chuck Loeb.

SmoothChicago, Chicago’s “home for live smooth jazz,” will kick-off this summer concert series with a Grand Opening show and party at Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park’s SmoothChicago Showroom, an intimate, lounge-style space designed so every guest can have a unique musical experience. The event, held Saturday, May 23 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., will feature critically acclaimed rising smooth jazz stars Ray Silkman, Phil Denny, and Typhanie Monique, with more to be announced.

As an opener for jazz greats such as David Sanborn and Kenny G, Ray Silkman has been touted as one of the best “Sax Men” in the business. The Chicago Sun Times raves "Silkman's sound is hypnotic to say the least!" Since emerging onto the smooth jazz scene in 2012, saxophonist Phil Denny has been described as a people’s musician, whose internationally recognized 2012 debut, Crossover, has already earned him two Billboard charted hits. A natural-born front woman with superb scatting chops and well-honed emcee skills, Typhanie Monique has achieved international status as a rising star vocalist by immersing herself in in a wide range of genres and influences including jazz, funk, hip-hop, pop and improvised freestyle.
