Arts In The Dark

Arts in the Dark is a magical nighttime Halloween parade that draws together esteemed organizations like the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, the Shedd Aquarium, and the DuSable Museum of African American History, as well as aspiring cultural groups and guilds of artists in every field. As dusk arrives, our creative communities will assemble for a powerful procession filled with large spectacle, legions of lanterns, costumes, performances, music, dance, dramatic lighting, moving platforms and more! The parade, traveling north on Columbus from Balbo to Monroe, will be led by 8 "Illuminators" - some of Chicago’s most influential creative leaders.

6:00-8:00 PM Arts in the Dark - Halloween Parade of Artists

4:00-5:45 PM Pre-Parade Celebration hosted by the Chicago Blackhawks (Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park) The Arts in the Dark festivities will kick-off at 4:00 at Buckingham Fountain, where The Chicago Blackhawks street team will host a pre-parade celebration including music and a Blackhawks inspired mural to commemorate the artist’s holiday in conjunction with hockey. Party-goers can post pictures to social media for the chance to win Blackhawks prizes.

8:00-9:30 PM Family-Friendly Movie & Candy Giveaway hosted by the Chicago Park District (Maggie Daley Park)

8:00-9:30 PM House Dance Party at the Bean hosted by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (Cloud Gate, Millennium Park)
