Join us for a free day of self-guided tours, hands-on demos, and creative workshops for the whole family!
Event Details
BONUS: Kids are encouraged to complete "Art Passports" as they participate in each workshop and demo around the building. The first 50 kids to complete their passports will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone and an art goodie bag, generously donated by Margie's Ice Cream on Montrose and Blick Art Materials in Evanston!
*All children must be accompanied by an adult. Crafts and workshops operate on a drop-in basis, and are offered while supplies last. There is a limit of one project per participant.

METALSMITHING & JEWELRY
Copper Key Rings/Zipper Pulls
Description: Stamp your name and patterns on copper to create your own personalized key ring or zipper pull.
Time: 11am–1pm
Room: Metals C, 3rd floor
Instructor: Debbie Solomon
For ages 10 +. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
PRINT
Screenprinting on Paper
Description: Learn to screen print onto cardstock using provided silkscreen designs. Make a hand-printed note card or poster to take home.
Time: 12–2PM
Room: Print, 3rd floor
Instructor: Tabor Shiles
For all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
TEXTILES
Block-Print a Handkerchief
Description: Learn how images can be carved into pieces of rubber and then choose your favorite to print onto fabric—and leave with a colorful handkerchief!
Time: 12pm–1:30pm
Room: Textiles A, third floor
Instructor: Shannon Thompson
For ages 8+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
PHOTOGRAPHY
UV Photograms
Description: Learn about one of the oldest photographic processes, The Photogram! Using light sensitive paper and unique objects, we'll expose creative designs developed using only light and water.
Time: 11am–2pm
Room: Digital B, 3rd Floor
Instructor: Jeanne Donegan
For all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
CERAMICS
Hands-On Demo: Open Wheel Throwing
Description: Try your hands at the wheel, and get a little messy. Participants will not get to keep thrown pieces but it’s your chance to experience clay and have fun!
Time: 11AM-1PM
Room: Wheel C, 1st floor
For ages 8+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
