A documentary about the anthropological roots of flamenco. A look at the essence and overall feeling of flamenco in all its permutations and manifestations, from the personal to the professional. A flamenco documentary that arises from material witnessed in the streets and in private parties. An approach like that of those who live to sing and those who sing to live it; of dancers and those that dance it; of flamenco instrumentalists and those who play flamenco instrumentally day to day.
A feature-length documentary exploring in turns the social roots and identity of flamenco, as delivered through three narrative axes:
ÁLVAREZ, master of fandangos and humble street-sweeper of Málaga. A great friend of Camarón, Álvarez embodies the role of an “artist of artists”, an artist who develops her art at the margin of the industry and whose performances are watched closely and carefully by the “ greats” of his field, as they search for inspiration they might continue to gain from following and listening to him.
The dance center AMOR DE DIOS, perhaps the most important and influential center of its kind through its long history and the great figures who have prepared their spectacles at the center.
The HARD YEARS OF FLAMENCO, remembered by Talegón of Córdoba, Álvarez and Carmela Greco. Flamenco in the 20s in the suburbs of the city; crossing the chasm of reconnecting and maintaining the connection of flamenco with the young in the period post-war.
