River Roast a lively social house and gathering place featuring handcrafted, yet rustic, food with many plates designed for sharing. The menu features contemporary American tavern fare and will focus on dramatic presentations of whole roasted chicken, which is cold smoked and then roasted to perfection in a specially-designed oven; whole roasted de-boned fish prepared in a tandoor oven and slow-cooked roast beef; all carved tableside and served with French fries.
Award-winning Chef Tony Mantuano has tapped celebrated Chicago Chef John Hogan to serve as executive chef. Together, they will create a diverse collection of shareable plates that may start the meal or accompany the main chicken, beef and fish entrees. The restaurant's heart is the bustling kitchen, centrally located for guests to see the action as dishes are prepared. Two bars offer views of the water as well as a large selection of local beer, craft cocktails and wine.
The restaurant is being transformed to create a bright, welcoming space within the historic Reid & Murdoch building. The design will showcase a brand new lower-level dining room with sweeping views of the Chicago River, two bars, a refreshed patio, and a semi-private dining room. Building on the success of Fulton's on the River as a sought-after venue, River Roast Private Events will include an additional event space that overlooks the dining room and offers views of the waterfront.
