Located in the South Shore community, South Shore Cultural Center (formerly the South Shore Country Club) is a cultural facility that has been recognized as a Chicago Landmark in (2004) and is also listed on the National Register.

Event Details

Sitting on a 65-acre park with a golf course, tennis courts, a bathing beach, and an impressive building, originated as the South Shore Country Club in 1905. This cultural haven was later rebuilt in 1916. Acquired by the Chicago Park District in 1975, this historic building was restored as a landmark after a massive community campaign led by the Chicago Park District and preservations. Today, South Shore Cultural Center totals 70.84 acres. Park-goers can participate in a variety of cultural programs and classes for all ages in dance, music, art, health, culinary arts, fitness, and more.

On Sunday, August 18, 2019 the historical South Shore Cultural Center, will host more than 10,000 members of the South Shore community in the annual summer celebration. In past years, the South Shore Summer Fest has included many prominent national musical artists known such as: Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, SWV, Dru Hill, Cameo and Jeffrey Osborne, just to name a few.
