As part of the City of Chicago's House Dance Festival, we will be offering free dance masterclasses!

HOUSE DANCE CLASS (4-4:45pm)
Taught by Fivestarboogie Dancers’ Czarina Mirani and Carlos Morris, this class is open to all levels from beginner to the more seasoned dancer. They will go over some basic moves of footwork and jacking while still encouraging each individual’s own freedom of expression and interpretation.
LATIN HOUSE/VOGUE (4:45-6pm)
LATIN HOUSE/ (Lyrik Cruz)
Latin house dance is an electronic dance music subgenre that combines house and Latin American dance, such as that of Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, and African origin. The body movements will incorporate isolations and flavor with an island feel.
VOGUEING (Carlos Lanvin)
Vogue Fem is fluidity at its most extreme with exaggerated feminine movements influenced by ballet, jazz and modern dance with lots of spins and dips.
*Following the class, there will be a festival kickoff party at 7:30pm upstairs at the Keith Haring Exhibit with DJ Ron Trent. There will be a dance showcase from the teachers and the rest of the Fivestarboogie Dancers to open up the party that night. You can also catch their performance the following day (Sat, May 26th) as they kick off the main stage Pritzker Pavillion 1:45pm-2pm.
BIOS:
CZARINA and CARLOS have been dancing and teaching together for many years, for various companies and institutions such as the Joel Hall Dancers, Chicago Takes Off, Miss Continental, Kirby Reed Ascension Project, the City of Chicago and House artists such as CeCe Peniston, Carla Prather, Shawn Christopher, Mina Jackson and more. The Fivestarboogie Dancers have performed at almost every major nightclub, school and theater across Chicago since 2000. They have also won the Chicago Reader’s Best Dance Class award and featured on Metromix TV’s show.
LYRIK CRUZ has become a highly acclaimed master instructor who has danced in just about every corner of the globe and has served as a guest choreographer to over 20 dance companies in the world. In addition to choreographing for shows at Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Ballroom and major music venues throughout the east coast, Lyrik has also worked
