Description

Queen Mary is a neighborhood cocktail tavern in Wicker Park with a history that dates back to the '70s, when seven taverns occupied the small stretch of Division Street. Building owner Mary Kafka operated the bar at 2125 W. Division with her husband until a family tragedy led her to to promptly shutter the business and leave it virtually untouched for nearly 40 years. Familiar with the history and interested in giving the former Polish tavern new life, Matt Eisler and Kevin Heisner formed a friendship with Kafka, and with her blessing, dubbed their iteration of the tavern ‘Queen Mary' in her honor. Opened in November 2015, the time capsule bar explores British maritime drinking traditions, highlighting the finest gin, rum and scotch available.
