Description
Permanently Closed.. Opening September 2013 in Wicker Park, Authentaco will be a taqueria featuring Mexican cuisine with authentic ingredients including house-made tortillas, specialty aqua frescas, elotes and huitlacoche. Menu highlights include traditional al pastor on the spit or vegetarian style with roasted camote (sweet potatoes) marinated in the same al pastor seasonings. A revolving menu will include Chicharrones con Salsa Roja, Rajas con Queso (roasted poblanos with melted Chihuahua cheese) and Carnitas con Aguacate.
Originally constructed in the 1930's, the building was the home of a 5-cent hamburger shop called Snappy Service System. In keeping with the history and facade, the sleek, casual space is comprised of reclaimed wood, metal, original subway tiles, and will feature a stand-up counter for dining. During the warmer months, guests will enjoy a patio with seating for 30 that will also feature a foosball table.
Authentaco will be open for lunch and dinner Sunday through Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. Additionally, Authentaco will feature a pop-up window with locally sourced donuts and churros from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily.
