Due to Popular Demand, The Defiant Thomas Brothers Add Performances to New Production at Stage 773

Event Details

Going where many don’t dare, this pair will have you “alternating between dropped jaws and howling laughs” until your throat hurts

The Defiant Thomas Brothers, currently bringing their uncanny ability to mine laughs all along the sensitivity spectrum with their no-limits comedy to Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, are thrilled to announce they have added performances through December 10. From roaming Chicago black box stages to quickly making headlines and garnering major attention in the sketch comedy world, winning the Best Sketch Group award at HBO’s prestigious U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, the pair briefly parted ways but are now back and headlining events like the 2016 Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin. Ranging from old-school, Nichols and May-esque relationship scenes, to embracing the cringe-worthy, The Defiant Thomas Brothers bring their neo-vaudeville flair to the elite roster of companies at Stage 773 every Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. through December 10.

The Defiant Thomas Brothers, Seth Thomas and Paul Thomas, look to shatter the tension and talk about the uncomfortable. Known for their commanding stage presence and commitment to timing and character, getting audiences leaning at the edge of their seats with each off-limit topic after the next is a trademark of the duo that keep butts in seats at their sold out shows nationwide. Breaking from the modern “political correctness” chains, The Defiant Thomas Brothers “go there” and can make you laugh with their social satire and hilarious music.

Interrobang describes the group as “a surprise” saying, “[The Defiant Thomas Brothers] grabbed some well tread comedic paths and mined them so skillfully as to make them feel completely fresh and original.” As for the pair’s original work, “[They ended] with a musical performance that can only be described as “The Jew Song” that had the audience alternating between dropped jaws and howling laughs- and that’s with a 50+ N-word chorus thrown in.”

Looking to defy expectations and bring something entirely n
